Annual Thanksgiving Meal Drive
Thanksgiving Bags 2018
…putting action to the message of helping others…
21st Annual Thanksgiving Project for Needy Families
In Memory of Byron Saunders
The Thanksgiving Basket project was created by Brian Wollenberg, a former CW graduate. For the first couple of years, his good friend and supervisor from work, Byron Saunders, helped Brian collect food items, assemble, and deliver the Thanksgiving Baskets. Byron was tragically killed in a car accident on Wright Rd. in Canal Winchester. Because Byron has touched Brian’s life and has been an inspiration to him, Brian now dedicates this project in memory of his friend Byron.
Last year over 6000 meals were provided to families thru the giving of Thanksgiving Baskets in Canal Winchester and other communities throughout central Ohio.
One Thanksgiving Bag should include:
Re-useable cloth grocery/shopping bag
$20.00 gift certificate from a local grocery store
Box of instant mashed potatoes
Box of stuffing
Bag of noodles
Can of corn
Can of green beans
Can of yams
Can of cranberry sauce
Can of broth
Jar or can of gravy
Tub of icing
Package of cookies
Bag of candy
Large aluminum roasting pan
Be a part of the Canal Winchester School District’s bag challenge of putting together a Thanksgiving Bag. This is a great activity and service project for a class, a group of friends, a family, the teaching or office staff, athletic team, and a club or organization. Please take all donations to your teacher, classroom, coach, adviser, etc. based on your building’s plan.
The completed Thanksgiving Bags will be picked up
the morning of Wednesday, November 14th at each school/office building.
