The Superintendent of Schools shall strive to achieve District goals for students by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the non-teaching staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in the school and outside the District.

The Superintendent of Schools is the chief executive and administrative officer of the Board. The Superintendent reports directly to the Board, has all powers and duties imposed upon the office by statute, and has all executive and administrative powers and duties in connection with the overall operation of the school which are not required by statute to be exercised directly by the Board or some other officer. The Superintendent exercises leadership through school administrators who comprise the Leadership Team.

A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Families,

I am excited to begin our journey with our newly developed Portrait of a Graduate (POG). The Portrait describes the skills and attributes that will help better prepare students for life beyond graduation, leading to either Enrollment, Employment, or Enlistment. The POG will also serve as the North Star for District, providing direction as we try to redesign the overall educational experience for students. We will spend the next year developing a plan to embed the Portrait of a Graduate at every grade level. The Portrait of a Graduate is focused on 6 themes that will be incorporated K-12. The themes are: Self-Aware Individuals, Problem Solvers, Collaborators, Responsible Learners, Respectful Citizens, and Communicators.

The high school renovation and construction project is progressing on time and will be completed by August 2020. It’s an exciting time at the high school, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the construction process. To view pictures of the construction process, please visit our homepage and click on the High School Construction Update tab.

The next main phase of the project is the installation of the gym floor in the auxiliary gym and windows and flooring in the new Library Learning Commons (media center). This will take place during the months of November and December. The Library Learning Commons (LLC) will be completed by December 2019 and ready for students by mid to late January. The current LLC will then be renovated into the main office area, and this process will take about 5 months. The current main office will be moved to the new space next summer, and the current office areas will be demolished and turned into a student commons area. There is much work to do before next school year, but it’s going to be well worth the wait!

We’ve had a great start to our school year, and I encourage our students and staff to continue to pursue excellence as we head into fall!
